You know the names of all 50 states and can probably rattle off most state capitals without agonizing. Good. But can you actually place the states in their precise geographic location on a blank map?

This game turns out to be surprisingly difficult—at least for the folks here at Wonkblog HQ (we'll give a pass to our resident Canadian).

The game does get much easier as you go on—once Illinois is in place, it's fairly simple to slide Indiana into the groove. The real challenge, as Jason Kottke points out, would be to refresh each turn, placing each state on a blank map: "placing Colorado in the western part of the country without any guide is much tougher than doing it last."
