As Egyptian military chief Abdel Fatah al-Sissi read a statement on state TV announcing that the military had suspended the constitution, temporarily replaced President Mohamed Morsi with the head of the constitutional court and would hold early presidential election, the many thousands of anti-Morsi protesters massed in Cairo's Tahrir Square erupted.
