A second Olympic boxer has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a maid in the Olympic Village, Rio police said in a statement.
Jonas Junius, a light welterweight who was Namibia’s flag-bearer in Friday’s Opening Ceremonies, allegedly grabbed the maid and tried to kiss her, Reuters reports. Rio police say he also offered the victim money to sleep with him.
“Brazilian law needs to be respected,” Rio 2016 spokesman Mario Andrada said. “What we need to ensure is that all the legal procedures are being followed and we are assured that they have been.”
Junius was scheduled to fight Hassan Anzille of France on Thursday. It’s unknown whether that match will take place.
On Friday, Moroccan boxer Hassan Saada was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting two Brazilian maids in the Olympic Village. He allegedly summoned the hotel workers into his room, asking for some information. When they entered, Rio police say he allegedly touched their thighs and breasts. A Brazilian judge has ordered Saada to be detained for 15 days pending an investigation.
