Remember the shirtless Tongan flagbearer from the Opening Ceremonies? Pita Nikolas Taufatofua made quite the impression with his buff, oiled-up physique.

Well, it just wouldn’t do to close things out without him, right? Sure enough, Taufatofua not only showed up with the same look, a tribute to the culture of his homeland, but he got up on stage, in case anyone might miss him in the throng of athletes.

Taufatofua didn’t fare so well in his Olympic competition, the men’s taekwondo over-80kg division, losing 16-1 to second-seeded Sajjad Mardani of Iran in the opening round. However, he made a huge impression worldwide with his striking appearance, even creating a newfound interest in Tongan tourism — and coconut oil.

Here’s more on Taufatofua.
