I have sometimes shuddered at James Allen’s ideas on wildlife management as presented in his comic strip “Mark Trail,” but he went over the top with the recent wolf and moose story [Comics, March 6].
If the wolves cannot kill and eat moose, what are they supposed to eat? Shall they eat mice, or maybe carrots, or just starve?
For years, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has been trying to educate people about wolves. This kind of strip is harmful to the effort.
Should we go back to killing wolves to save the prey species? I hope that is not what Allen is advocating.
