The Dec. 11 news article “In Paris, majority view in GOP Congress is in minority” dismissed global-warming deniers as “skeptics.”

According to Skeptical Inquirer magazine, which suggests that “skeptic is an honored term that should be reserved for those who are guided by scientific evidence,” the Associated Press “will no longer use the term skeptics for those who reject the findings of climate science.”

The article also casually dismissed Fred Singer as “a Virginia physicist and longtime critic of the scientific consensus on climate change.” Singer is a main character in the book “Merchants of Doubt” by Naomi Oreskes and Erik M. Conway. Singer is paid by the fossil fuel industry as he plays down climate change’s consequences.
