The 2012 image of a Palestinian child killed by a rocket appeared with Philip Kennicott’s Sept. 15 Outlook commentary, “Not horrible enough?,” with a caption noting that the image “became a subject of controversy.”

Yes, it did, at least until further investigation ensued. However, this “controversy” was cleared up when the U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights investigated the event and declared that the baby probably was killed by an errant Hamas rocket that had been fired at Israel by militants from Palestinian territory. The Associated Press issued a correction for its original caption for the photo.
