As a former SAT tutor, I must echo Jay Mathews’s sentiments in his Sept. 27 Metro column, “For everyone’s sake, retire the outdated SAT.”
Although I could charge twice for SAT tutoring what I do for tutoring for organization and study skills, I believe that it is unconscionable to encourage young people, especially those struggling in school, to waste time preparing for a test that has no relevance to reality. Further, parents need to stop wasting money not only on test preparation but also on the test itself.
Let’s stop this madness, and allow students to concentrate on their schoolwork.
