Regarding the Feb. 21 editorial “Muriel Bowser for mayor”:

It’s interesting that, in a nearly 1,100-word endorsement, The Post devoted just 275 words to its preferred candidate. Even more revealing: D.C. Council member Muriel Bowser’s stated accomplishments (“degree in public policy . . . thoughtful and pragmatic lawmaker . . . supported school reform . . . an ethics reform package . . . protege of [former mayor Adrian M.] Fenty”) pale in comparison to what The Post said about Mayor Vincent C. Gray (“The city’s finances are robust. Crime is down. Schools are improving. People are moving in. Unemployment is creeping down.”). The editorial does more to underscore the dearth of competition for the incumbent than offer a robust endorsement of a somewhat-better-than-the-rest challenger.
