The Dec. 5 editorial “Better care in Prince George’s” got it right. At Children’s National Health System, we believe that Prince George’s County deserves a high-quality health-care facility. As the region’s principal provider of pediatric care we are committed to ensuring that the families of central and southern Maryland continue to have ready access to the best services in their community.

To that end, we have worked with the University of Maryland Medical System and Dimensions Healthcare System to expand access to a broad range of services for children. When the new regional medical center opens, we will be prepared to bring our expertise in providing pediatric services.

The community must demand progress. The effort to create a regional medical center should not be further delayed. The center should remain a top priority for all makers of public policy.
