Regarding John Feinstein's March 14 Sports column “A swan song’s bitter end”:
What a sad day for University of Maryland fans. While attending the Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball Tournament in Greensboro, N.C., last weekend, I was reminded why the ACC is one of the best basketball conferences in the country. The excitement and passion of the fans are unmatched and the level of basketball is excellent.
I attended my first ACC Tournament in 1971 and have gone to many since. I witnessed the classic game between the Maryland Terrapins and North Carolina State in 1974. There have been many disappointments, heartaches and celebrations over the past 61 years, but I think I speak for many Terps fans in saying “thank you” to the ACC universities and their fans. It has been a wonderful run for Maryland in the ACC, and it will be missed. Yes, even the Dookies. Go, Terps!
