Thank you to Ruth Marcus for her June 4 op-ed column, “Still one left behind.” I was thrilled by the parallel drawn between the situation in which my friend, Alan Gross, has been since December 2009 and that of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
Now that the Obama administration has shown it does negotiate with terrorist organizations, such as the Taliban, and our president has set the precedent of releasing five terrorist Taliban leaders for one U.S. soldier, perhaps someone in the White House will wake up and open serious negotiations with the Castro brothers and the Cuban government to exchange the convicted Cuban Five spies for Mr. Gross, a humanitarian worker held in a prison in Havana.
