Regarding the May 10 Metro article “D.C. pot law draws scrutiny in House”:
As a native Louisianan, I have to respond to Rep. John Fleming’s (R-La.) lament, “I don’t have a say-so in state law other than lobbying my own representative; the only place I have a voice is in Washington, and whenever I have an opportunity, I’m going to use that platform to make a stand.”
Some 600,000 of his fellow American citizens would love the right to appeal to their own representatives, and if we in the District ever achieve that goal, I promise we’ll keep our noses out of Louisiana’s local affairs, no matter how great the temptation or justification.
