The Nov. 28 front-page article “A restful weekend, down the drain” was a serious warning about issues with grease-related blobs and sewer overflows because of the yucky stuff we pour down our drains.
I read the article to my family at Thanksgiving dinner, including the part about “the acre covered with toilet paper and debris” in Maryland and “a manhole cover [that] overflowed to a wooded area with a stench so powerful that every beaver there abandoned its dam.”
I felt sorry for the beavers, but I laughed , and my family did, too. Then I, too, poured the turkey grease and juice down the drain.
