While reading the Jan. 4 news story “Boehner narrowly wins 2nd term as House speaker,” I read and re-read the following statement: “The position, second in line of succession for the presidency, does not have to be held by a current member of Congress.” It is astonishing that a non-elected person could hold the office of the president. Am I the only person shocked by this possibility?
