I deeply appreciate the compassionate Metropolitan Police Department officers who diligently pursued and captured the snowy owl who has been visiting our city, almost certainly saving her life [“Officers rescued injured snowy owl after tracking it for two hours,” Metro, Jan. 31].
Because of their quick thinking and excellent work, she is now in the hands of expert caretakers who, once she is rehabilitated, hope to be able to release her into more favorable and supportive surroundings.
This denizen of the far north has captivated and enchanted many of us in the D.C. area with her presence, reminding us of both the beauty — and vulnerability — of wildness. Thank you again to these kind and resourceful officers.
