Arlington County Manager Barbara Donnellan finally “stopped the planned construction of super bus stops following public outcry after the first of 23 went up at a cost of $1 million” [“Arlington halts bus stop construction,” Metro, March 30]. Now, Arlington County officials say, “We want to make sure we get it right.” Where were they when construction was approved? That was the time for careful review. Unfortunately, that is not happening in Arlington. The county has approved many ill-conceived, expensive transportation projects. It should not take a million-dollar fiasco to stop this wasteful spending.
