John Kelly’s Oct. 7 Metro column, “From Nationals to Senators and back again, choosing the team name was all by design,” made no mention of another name for the Washington Senators. Following the Boston Red Sox in the ’40s, I often found the Senators referred to on the Boston sports page as the Solons. I never saw the name Nationals. So I do not understand how the Nationals became the Senators in 1956, when in Boston they were either the Senators or Solons long before that time. The Sox had enough to worry about with the Yankees, Tigers, and Indians.
