I think it’s terrific that District Mayor Vincent C. Gray signed the Athletic Concussion Protection Act last week [“Gray signs bill to thwart brain injuries,” Metro, July 28].  Seriously, I do. And I also think it’s great that the District has established bike lanes and easy-to-access bike rentals all over town.

Think these are unrelated? Where, I’m wondering, are the helmets all these bike riders should be wearing? I acknowledge this might be a logistical nightmare (and a very close first cousin of bowling shoes), but heads are heads, skulls are skulls, and brain injuries can maim and kill, regardless of how they take place.

D.C., please give some thought to making helmets available now for all these bicyclists using city streets.
