I was disappointed to see a photograph of a bullfight in the May 21 Travel section’s “What’s the deal?” feature. Bullfighting makes sport of the grotesque torture and killing of animals. Humane Society International refers to bullfights as “highly staged forms of animal cruelty.”
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus removed elephants from performances. SeaWorld stopped breeding orcas. These changes occurred because the public increasingly rejects harming animals for human entertainment.
Bullfighting, rodeos, swimming with dolphins and other uses of animals in entertainment should be the subject of Post investigative reports, not highlighted as good deals for travelers.
