It was with sadness and a rush of nostalgia that I read of the death of Zema Williams, a.k.a. Chief Zee [“Redskins superfan Chief Zee dies,” Sports, July 20]. From my vantage point in RFK Stadium and then FedEx Field for more than 30 years as a trumpet player in the team’s marching band, I felt that no matter the weather or the team’s fortune that season, there were two constants integral to the stadium milieu: Chief Zee and the mighty Washington Redskins Marching Band.

RIP, Chief. A job well done.
