Wind turbines near El Reno, Okla. (Sue Ogrocki/ASSOCIATED PRESS)

It’s too bad that the writer of the June 14 letter “Hold the applause on clean energy” missed the article in USA Today on May 31 that pointed out the ongoing catastrophe of the Three Mile Island nuclear meltdown. The news is that Penn State Medical Center has proved a link between the meltdown and the abnormally high incidence of thyroid cancer among residents in south-central Pennsylvania.

Denmark has been operating commercial wind farms, on land and in the sea, for more than 25 years and lo and behold no one has become sick.  Evidently the folks in Pennsylvania have taken note of that. This is evident when you see all the wind turbines that have been erected in the state.
