Regarding the June 9 front-page article “At Sixth & I, hip intersects with spiritual”:
Shelton Zuckerman, chairman of the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue board, was quoted as saying that a conservative rabbi advised that sometimes-edgy entertainment at the site is fine “as long as the arc [that holds the Torah] is closed.”
Actually, if the “arc is closed,” it’s a circle. If the “ark is closed,” it’s a synagogue.
