Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R) said he is giving $18,000 to charity “because it’s the right thing to do” [“Cuccinelli moving to defuse gift issue,” front page, Sept. 11]. He has missed the point entirely. The right thing to do would have been to not take $18,000 in gifts in the first place. If they had not been reported in the media, would Mr. Cuccinelli have given the money to charity voluntarily?
