President Trump in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington on Oct. 2. (Jabin Botsford/The Washington Post)

Apparently there is no U.S. policy for North Korea. An international crisis involving threats to deploy nuclear weapons requires, at bare minimum, thoughtful, deliberate and cogent decisions. What is President Trump's goal when he continues second-grade name-calling and undercuts delicate negotiations in bizarre tweets ["President contradicts Tillerson on N. Korea," front page, Oct. 2]? Please, Mr. President, call the secretary of state before you tweet. Surely you have his phone number.
