In his Feb. 21 op-ed column, “The myth of ‘settled science,’ ” Charles Krauthammer raised points about the ambiguity of climate research that should not be ignored. His arguments led to an obvious conclusion: We should significantly and immediately increase investment in science and climate research to improve our understanding of this complex and vital planet.
It is unfortunate that Mr. Krauthammer chose to spend his final three paragraphs entrenched in the slander of the culture wars by characterizing climate-change proponents in severely derogatory terms rather than spending those precious published words on suggestions for how to proceed with policy, investment and experiments to support the arduous and honorable pursuit of understanding the human influence on planet Earth.
