Regarding the Feb. 21 news story “When red snapper is a fish of a different color”:

I have suspected such misrepresentation for many years. On occasion, I have rejected mislabeled fish and other seafood offerings at restaurants and other seafood venues because I felt and knew that I wasn’t getting what was advertised. My inquiries have been met with shrugs and “I don’t know” from both worker bees and management. From my experiences, I have surmised that most of the people I have talked to don’t know a thing about the seafood put in front of them. And I suspect that unscrupulous seafood suppliers and food preparers count on this lack of knowledge. Buyer beware.
