Paul Jarris was amused by a caption indicating that a doctor listened to heart sounds over the patient’s right back [“Anatomy lesson,” Free for All, Feb. 22]. Less amusing to me, as a retired physician, is the fact that the doctor was examining a fully clothed patient. Too many doctors try to listen to the barely audible sounds of the heart or lungs through layers of clothing. Listening is one thing; hearing is another.
