There is an immediate opportunity for Congress to support Ukraine: Issue a bipartisan, bicameral invitation to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to address a joint session of Congress.
Such an invitation would give Mr. Zelensky the moral support and public recognition he sought in the coveted but denied White House meeting and would reiterate Congress’s bipartisan support for Ukraine as it battles Russian aggression.
Congress could also pass a concurrent resolution (not needing a presidential signature) of support for the people of Ukraine that could be presented to Mr. Zelensky during his visit.
We need to be a good neighbor in our democratic neighborhood. And doing it in a bipartisan way would lift all of our spirits in this season of Advent.
