Regarding Marc Ambinder’s Nov. 20 Outlook essay, “Escape to New York”:

There is a simple solution to the traffic problems created by President-elect Donald Trump’s New York presence: creating a presidential compound on Governors Island in New York Harbor.

The president could fly into Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey and travel by helicopter to Governors Island 50 miles away. My guess is Trump would love it; the view of Manhattan is spectacular, and it would be a great place for entertaining foreign dignitaries.

Because it is an island, security would be much easier and the disruption to Manhattan would be much less.
