Last month, Republicans went to the Supreme Court to defend a law that deprives consenting couples of the same gender the ability to legally protect their social and financial relationships, a law that had no constitutional basis nor served any overriding national priority but, as Justice Elena Kagan noted, was meant to “express moral disapproval of homosexuality.”
In the April 3 news story “Former S.C. governor wins primary runoff,” The Post reported that Mark Sanford, who, as governor of South Carolina, cheated on his wife, lied to his constituents and abandoned his responsibilities for a week to pursue his affair, has been chosen as his party’s nominee for a seat in the House. Apparently everything is just peachy now because he found God. Wasn’t that convenient?
