With deep respect for and gratitude to former Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens for a lifetime of distinguished service to our nation, the Second Amendment is not the problem. The Second Amendment is perfectly consistent with reasonable gun regulation, and the Supreme Court has said nothing to the contrary.
The problem is a lack of political will in Congress and in some states to enact reasonable restrictions. It will be only more difficult to build sufficient political will if advocates of gun control feed the false narrative of the National Rifle Association that any form of gun control, no matter how measured and eminently sensible, is the beginning of the end of gun rights and all freedom in the United States.
