Regarding the April 17 Metro story “Tax rate may rise more than proposed”:

Surely I’m not the only one who sees the irony in Arlington County increasing residential property taxes in part to pay for additional spending for affordable housing. I would hazard a guess that returning $30 to each household — taking the $3 million the county manager had planned to cut and giving it to the roughly 100,000 households in the county — could help ordinary taxpayers and residents far more than whatever overhead-laden setup the county board has in place for reducing housing costs.
