The members of the Fairfax County Electoral Board are to be commended for their decision to extend the time in which voters casting provisional ballots could appear in person to argue for the validity of their vote [“Herring adds to lead in late count,” Metro, Nov. 13; “Let the voters decide,” editorial, Nov. 14]. It was encouraging that in this era of officials undermining democracy with gerrymandering and voter ID (read: suppression) laws, the Republican-majority board values its commitment to “getting it right.”
