In reference to Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and other Senate Republicans, Dana Milbank makes the asinine statement that “the lunatics are running the asylum” [“If they don’t succeed, they’ll try again. And again. And again,” Washington Sketch, March 14].

Mr. Cruz is experienced (he has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, he was Texas’s solicitor general and he has held positions at the Federal Trade Commission, Justice Department and University of Texas School of Law), highly intelligent (a Princeton undergraduate and a magna cum laude graduate from Harvard Law, where he was editor of the Harvard Law Review) and articulate (he can give a great speech, even without a teleprompter), and he is the son of a man who left Cuba during the revolution there. He is a potential candidate for president and would be an excellent choice if he desires to pursue that office.

I can only say that if Mr. Milbank is that worried about him, Mr. Cruz is headed in the right direction.
