Regarding the Jan. 29 front-page article on the State of the Union address, “Obama: I won’t stand still”:

The Post quoted President Obama as saying, “Wherever and whenever I can take steps without legislation to expand opportunity for more American families, that’s what I’m going to do.” My question to the president is: Why didn’t you begin taking these steps five years ago? I am sure the unemployed and underemployed could have used the help.
