Regarding Jonathan Zimmerman’s Nov. 29 Washington Forum commentary, “Let’s end term limits”:

The “second-term curse” that seems to afflict modern presidents (and shows no signs of abating) renders term limits irrelevant. Until a president performs so well that denying him or her a third term would amount to shooting ourselves in the foot, Congress can safely continue to ignore calls for repealing the 22nd Amendment.

Let’s hope for a day when this issue is less academic.
