The April 25 Metro article “Estimated costs rise for Purple Line trail” should raise more than just another red flag in the ongoing saga of the Purple Line.

Even the proponents of the line seem to admit that this is not going to be the last cost increase we will see. That will make an expensive project even more untenable.

Everyone who bought into this idea based on some special concession should be asking themselves: What’s the first thing they’ll cut when they find there’s not enough money to get the job done right?
