While the May 13 editorial “GOP politics of dysfunction” was on point about how the Republicans are leading Washington to new lows of dysfunction, it is also important to note the irony: If the Republicans were not so blindly obsessed with making President Obama’s life as difficult as possible, they might have had enough credibility to have beaten him last year. After all, when a  president can win reelection amid a sputtering economy, unacceptable unemployment levels and outrageously high deficits, that says a lot about the competition.
