In his March 16 op-ed column, “A policy of hurting the poor,” George F. Will opined that the recently enacted farm bill redistributes wealth upward by subsidizing wealthy and corporate farmers at the expense of consumers. Hardly news. What was news, however, was that President Obama somehow owns this legislation and is therefore to blame. Mr. Will did not mention that in the House, 162 Republicans voted for the bill and 63 voted against, while 89 Democrats voted for the bill and 103 voted against. How, exactly, is this Mr. Obama’s legislation?
