Regarding the May 19 front-page article “Plan would pull funds for abortion providers”:

My grandmother wanted birth-control information from Planned Parenthood in 1920. Possibly because her mother had eight children and died at 45, leaving my grandmother to be raised by her older sisters. This is where President Trump wants us to go — back 100 years — with his proposed restrictions.

Andrea Abrams, Rockville

If referral of a patient to an abortion provider by a hospital receiving federal funds constitutes federal support of abortion, does referral of a patient by the same hospital to a hospital-employed chaplain for prayer constitute federal support of religion?

Matthew S. Watson, Washington
