Regarding Robert McCartney’s Feb. 27 Metro column, “It’s a better world without Sam Sheinbein”:

It is not true and it is disgusting to suggest that “[w]e’ve all been thinking” that a human being “had it coming” when he was killed in an Israeli prison. Mr. McCartney acknowledged that Mr. Sheinbein may have been mentally ill and attempting “suicide by cop,” so why not explore those possibilities before zeroing in on this troubled man’s “depravity”?

Contributing to Mr. McCartney’s frustration with this “coward” seemed to be the complicity of Mr. Sheinbein’s father in getting him to Israel, as well as Israel’s efforts. Those are deserving topics for discussion.

Do all such criminals deserve to die?
