Regarding the June 28 Metro digest item “Ban sought on speed, red-light cameras”:
I love the irony in D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton’s anti-big government statements about the bill to ban or limit speed cameras in the District. She emphasizes that such matters are best left to local communities. I agree with her, but I would hope that this example will help “progressives” like Ms. Norton (D) understand why others feel that same way about many other issues. The double irony is that Ms. Holmes is correct that such a bill is hypocritical when it comes from someone who supports less “big government” control over local affairs.
