It was interesting to read in the March 16 front-page article, “Md. end of death penalty passes,” that Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D), “a practicing Catholic, said he sensed an opening to pursue a long-held belief of his. Rather than put forward new regulations that would allow the death penalty to resume, O’Malley focused on lobbying the legislation for repeal.” It’s a shame Mr. O’Malley, as a practicing Catholic, doesn’t seem to have that same long-held belief to ban or even restrict abortion.
