It ill becomes columnist David Ignatius to denigrate Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the chairman of the Senate intelligence committee, for having said, “We should have been told” [“A modern witch hunt,” op-ed, Nov. 18].

No one disputes the fact that members of the military and CIA work for the executive branch, but surely Ms. Feinstein’s committee, which has oversight responsibility for the intelligence community, had every right to expect that it would be informed of an FBI investigation of the civilian head of the CIA.

It is Mr. Ignatius who should give Ms. Feinstein a break or, even better now, an apology.
