I was offended by the romanticized depiction of “oil men” selling scents on Metro trains and Metrobuses [“Know the city by its scents,” Metro, Aug. 18]. I doubt that every seller upholds the District’s vending regulations, let alone conforms to actions permitted by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. I believe in honest work for former felons to allow them to contribute to society. I do not see how these oil men are performing honest work.
