Jackson Diehl [“Putin’s lost Olympic triumph,” op-ed, Feb. 3] wrote of “the Stalinist excess of a record $50 billion spent” on Sochi’s Olympic Games. Funny, I thought the hallmarks of Stalinism were mass killing, collectivization and a cult of personality. If bloated infrastructure spending is inherently Stalinist, what does that make Metro’s Silver Line?
