Safe and efficient rail transportation and infrastructure should be of concern to all area residents. It is disconcerting to see some residents and politicians putting up roadblocks to a rehabilitated Virginia Avenue rail tunnel because of their temporary inconveniences [“Plans for upgrade of rail tunnel in D.C. stall,” Metro, Aug. 18].
Many of us in this area have made sacrifices for things such as road, subway and water main improvements. Derailing this project may just result in a real derailment on the Not In My Back Yarders’ front steps.
