Regarding the March 5 front-page article “GOP fears fallout of cuts”:

I work on a defense contract, and I was dreading the reality that I might be furloughed.  I spent hours trying to figure out where I might trim 10 percent from my budget.

Then I realized that I didn’t have to do that. I can just budget as Washington does.

So I plan to send out 90 percent of my mortgage, utilities and credit card payments. I was going to skip eating out, but instead I’ll just cut the check by 10 percent.

Congress found a way to trim my lifestyle without affecting those of lawmakers. I see no reason why I can’t pay (or not pay) it forward.
