In her Feb. 12 Outlook essay, “I never cared about politics. Then Trump nominated Betsy DeVos,” Elizabeth Wade sounded astonished to find that the new education secretary is seismically unqualified to run the country’s Education Department. On the contrary, it would seem that Ms. DeVos’s skill set and that of others, including Housing and Urban Development Secretary-designate Ben Carson, are very much attuned to their respective areas based on the general election outcome.

Ms. Wade missed that all this experience and competence stuff just gets in the way of putting people in place who can really get something done.
